It’s the beginning of the end for Dom Toretto and the Fast Family, as “Fast X” is making its way to theaters. Will it be the beginning of the originally planned two-part finale? Or are we getting a full trilogy to help wrap up the “Fast” saga? Either way, this movie is going to help bring things in for a landing after more than 20 years. There will still be more “Fast” in our future, however, and if there’s more to come for a franchise, you know what that means: credits scenes! Usually, anyhow, largely thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
So, for those headed to see the latest “Fast and Furious” movie in theaters, we’re here to help set some expectations with a spoiler-free guide to the movie’s credits scenes. Again, this is spoiler-free. This is just so moviegoers know whether or not they need to hold off on that bathroom break a little longer to see some additional footage, or if it’s credits and nothing but credits. Let’s get into it.
Does Fast X have a credits scene?
To make it simple for everyone, yes. The answer is a resounding yes. “Fast X” does indeed have a credits scene. The good news for those whose butts have already been punished by the 2-hour and 21-minute runtime is that the scene begins playing very quickly into the credits. So you won’t have to wait long to see what director Louis Leterrier (who took over for original “Fast X” director Justin Lin) attached to the 10th film in the series. There is, however, just one scene. Once this scene rolls, it’s just credits from then on out, so those who don’t feel compelled to read the full list of names of who contributed to the film can head to the lobby without fear of missing out.
How important is the scene?
Now for the bigger question: is this scene actually of importance to the future? Or is this just tacked on for a little something extra? To be very clear, this scene is extremely important as it helps tee up “Fast 11,” which will also be directed by Louis Leterrier. While we won’t say anything about it specifically, fans of the franchise who are looking forward to what comes next will absolutely want to stick around. This is not one to be skipped.
Returning cast members for this installment include Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, John Cena, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron. Newcomers include Jason Momoa as our main villain, as well as Brie Larson as Tess, Alan Richtson as Aimes, Daniela Melchior as a Brazilian street racer, and Rita Moreno as Dom and Mia’s grandma.
“Fast X” hits theaters on May 19, 2023. Here’s the movie’s official synopsis:
Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything — and everyone — that Dom loves, forever.
