James Cameron Has A ‘Secret Film Club’ With Steven Spielberg And Guillermo Del Toro

During an interview with CinemaBlend about the long-awaited “Avatar” sequel, stars Jamie Flatters and Bailey Bass (who play Neteyam and Tsireya) revealed that James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, and Guillermo del Toro have a kinship between them. While they’re not necessarily hiding their friendship from the general public, especially after what Cameron did for del Toro’s family, Flatters says that the trio of acclaimed creators are also in a “secret film club.”

Now, before anyone goes off about an underground society of filmmakers sitting around a long table with fancy robes, beer steins, and songs about the ways they control society, the young actor simply means that the three visionaries exchange feedback about their work. When asked what kind of notes Cameron received about the latest trip back to Pandora, he teased:

“I know nothing about that, but I know [Guillermo del Toro], Jim, and Spielberg all have a secret film club. […] They’re friends. They visit the set and they talk about creative ideas and yeah. So as long as those guys are happy with the film, that’s amazing … As long as Jim’s happy with it.”

Again, with many writers, directors, and actors out there only looking out for themselves and their own careers, it’s refreshing to see that some of the best in the game are genuinely nice to each other. But also, it’s kinda fun to picture Cameron, Spielberg, and del Toro hanging out in their pajamas with popcorn as they settle for their regular movie night after exchanging notes on their scripts. I’m sure there’s fan art of this somewhere on the internet already. And if there isn’t, you’re welcome for the adorable image.
