WrestleMania season is one of the best times of the year for wrestling fans, as WWE brings out the biggest and best Superstars to fill out the two-day card.

The 2024 edition of the marquee event comes from Philadelphia, a Mecca for American wrestling. As a result, Triple H and his creative team will be looking to pull out all the stops to ensure a legendary weekend come April 6-7.

Despite several injuries and backlash from the WWE Universe about The Rock seemingly replacing Cody Rhodes in the main event, here are the matches the company must book at WrestleMania 40.

The Rock vs. Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes

From a business perspective, adding The Rock to the ‘Mania card is a no-brainer, thanks to his mainstream fame and popularity with the WWE Universe. The problem was that Triple H and Co. did not anticipate the backlash of ruining the top storyline of the last year-plus.

Despite an atrocious start to the Road to WrestleMania 40 with Rhodes handing over his dream match against Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed World Championship, Thursday’s press conference built legitimate excitement toward The Show of Shows.

With The Rock teasing a heel gimmick and Rhodes playing the role of babyface, WWE Creative would be foolish not to put the title on the line in a Triple Threat and allow The American Nightmare to pin The Great One, setting up a spring and summer of Reigns chasing the new champion.

Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins vs. Sami Zayn

At first, it looked like Rhodes would be relegated to the World Heavyweight Championship scene against Seth Rollins, but it’s clear he and Reigns will go head-to-head.

The Visionary was made to look foolish at the WrestleMania Kickoff press conference on Thursday, but his match will end up being one of the most important on the card at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Despite dealing with a knee injury, Rollins should defend his title against, arguably, the best heel in the business right now, Drew McIntyre, and one of the biggest babyfaces on the main roster, Sami Zayn.

Not only does the Triple Threat stipulation protect Rollins and his injured knee, but it also allows two Superstars to make up for the mainstream clout lost when CM Punk was injured.

In addition, McIntrye and Zayn have not been properly utilized for too long, so handing them this spot and letting them steal the show would reward them for their hard work.

Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch

The biggest possible Women’s World Championship match in WWE right now would be a battle between defending titleholder Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch.

The two have been on a collision course for months, but it’s finally time to build to the marquee bout.

While Lynch has been in a holding pattern for months despite her mainstream popularity, Ripley has been a dominant force, both in the ring and from a storyline perspective.

The Man could easily walk out of Philadelphia with the title, but if WWE wants to build Ripley as the face of the division, a win against Lynch at WrestleMania 40 would be a significant feather in her cap.

Some of the greatest WrestleMania matches in history have pitted former friends or even brothers against each other—look no further than the historic battle between Bret and Owen Hart—and the fight between Jey and Jimmy Uso will be no exception.

Jey is one of the most popular faces in all of wrestling, and his brother has become a hated heel, working as a backup for Reigns in The Bloodline.

With Jimmy likely to cost his brother the intercontinental title against Gunther, the stage will be set for an incredible singles match pitting Jey against his twin on the biggest stage in wrestling.

Despite valid questions about the content of Logan Paul’s character, WWE understands his value as a popular social media star and continues to prop him up as a top performer.

To capitalize on his momentum, Triple H should put him against John Cena at WrestleMania.

Cena is one of the biggest home-grown WWE Superstars in history, and a return for a match at The Show of Shows would be big news for both fans and the mainstream media alike.

Add in the fact that he’ll be squaring off against someone the tabloids love, and the match between Paul and Cena would garner attention from media outlets worldwide.
