Memphis Grizzlies 2023 second-round pick GG Jackson has been one of the bright spots in the team’s disappointing season, and the team rewarded him on Thursday night.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Jackson agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Grizzlies. The 2023 No. 45 draft pick had begun the year on a two-way contract.

Jackson’s extension comes after he scored a career-high 27 points in Thursday’s game against the Chicago Bulls. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies lost the game 118-110, dropping their record to 18-34 and extending their losing streak to seven straight games.

Jackson has appeared in 19 games this season and is averaging 8.9 points and 3.2 rebounds. He has scored in double figures in six out of his last seven games.

Memphis’ season was lost from the start when they missed star point guard Ja Morant for the first 25 games due to his suspension. After he returned, he lasted just nine games before being forced to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.

In addition to losing Morant for the year, the Grizzlies have dealt with injuries to multiple key players. Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart and Brandon Clarke are among the team’s players who are currently sidelined.

The Grizzlies will look to end their losing streak when they return to action on Saturday in a road matchup against the Charlotte Hornets (10-40).
