With “Batwoman” and “Legends of Tomorrow” finding out about their cancellation status on the same day, the future doesn’t look bright for newly debuted shows like “4400,” “Naomi,” and “All American: Homecoming.” Longer running series like “Dynasty,” “Charmed,” and “Legacies” are currently awaiting the green light for additional seasons. The stress for all of these writers’ rooms must be thick enough to cut with a knife right about now. In a depressingly ironic coincidence, the cancellations also come on National Superhero Day.
The CW cancelling Legends of Tomorrow AND Batwoman is one of the biggest losses. Both shows that have championed so many important stories…happy national superhero day I guess ?

As of publication, “The Flash” is still secured for a ninth season, and hopefully some of the loose ends left by the premature cancellation of “Batwoman” and “Legends of Tomorrow” can be tied up through the handful of remaining Arrowverse shows. If not, perhaps the shows could find a home at HBO Max, but it’s best not to get our hopes up too high. After today’s announcements, we should probably start getting used to the disappointment.
